- 25/200 A disastrous pit stop for Kyle Larson.
- After starting the race 32nd, Josef Newgarden made his way to the front half of the pack in the early going.
- 75/200 Alexander Rossi's vehicle catches on fire following pit stop.
- 82/200 Rinus Veekay's car spun out of control on pit road and went into the wall.
- 89/200 Robert Shwartzman, who started the race in first place, saw his day end after a scary incident on pit lane.
- 92/200 Kyle Larson loses control.
- 135/200 Josef Newgarden Indianapolis 500 winner's day ended due to a mechanical issue.
- 152/200 Ryan Hunter-Reay who had led 48 laps and was driving near the front of the pack for a chunk of the race, had a prolonged pit stop.
- 180/200 With 20 laps to go, Marcus Ericsson was in first place, followed by Alex Palou in second and David Malukas in third.
- 186/200 Alex Palou got the lead with 14 laps remaining in the race and never let it go, winning the Indianapolis 500 for the first time in his career. Marcus Ericsson finished second, followed by David Malukas in third, Pato O'Ward in fourth and Felix Rosenqvist in fifth.

21:25 - Ericsson has some lucky laps with more than 2.5 seconds ahead of Pato O'Ward.
21:28 - 6 laps from the end !
On a day of twists and turns on the 2.5 mile oval, the biggest came just six laps
from the end when Jimmie Johnson(48), Ericsson's teammate got down on the grass and spun up into the wall.
21:30 - Bringing out a Red Flag and sending the cars onto the pit lane.
21:35 - 4 laps to go
When the debris was cleared, the drivers returned to the track.

With over 300,000 spectators on their feet for a breathtaking two-lap winner-takes-all sprint, Ericsson revived this race perfectly by surprising Pato O'Ward by doing the dragon move(zigzagging in the straight line), Ericsson held off hard-charging Mexican Pato O'Ward.
21:45 - Ericsson put his car on Victory Lane and give owner Chip Ganassi a fifth Borg Warner trophy!

INDY500 RACE REPORT
Scott Dixon fell apart when the six-time IndyCar Series champion ran out of gas before his first pit stop Sunday.
The pole sitter was on track for a regularly scheduled stop when Stefan Wilson crashed as he entered pit road to bring out a caution 33 laps into the race. The caution closed pit road for service and delayed Dixon's plan to stop for service.
Lap 119, Graham Rahal spins on the apron of the out lap! The crew left a wheel loose and it came off. He slams the outside wall and Conor Daly hits the tire as it bounces across the track. Minor damage for Daly as the caution is out.
